If people detained for desertion express the willingness to continue to serve in the Armed Forces of Armenia, arrest won’t be applied as a pre-trial measure against them. This is what Deputy Head of the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia Vazgen Avetisyan told reporters today.

Avetisyan informed that the Investigation Department has launched criminal cases regarding desertion. “If the military servicemen who are charged with not serving in the army or refusing to participate in military operations repent for their acts and express willingness to continue to fulfill their duties, the body implementing proceedings will take that into consideration when considering the pre-trial measure,” Avetisyan said.
