Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Masis Mayilyan today had a meeting with deputy of the Congress of Deputies of Spain (elected from the Land of the Basques) Jon Inarritu, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh reported.

The foreign minister greeted the Spanish deputy and expressed gratitude for the political support that he has shown to Artsakh since the very first days of the military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan and Turkey against Artsakh.

Mayilyan highly appreciated the friendly relations established with the Land of the Basques, for which the adoption by the Parliament of the Land of the Basques of a resolution supporting the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination in 2014 laid the foundation.

In his turn, Inarritu stated that the aim of his visit to Artsakh is to express his support to and solidarity with Artsakh and its people once again and get acquainted with the current situation and the consequences of the military aggression.

At the deputy’s request, Mayilyan presented the created situation and emphasized that today Artsakh is actually fighting against not only Azerbaijan and Turkey, but also international terrorism. He added that the international community needs to take resolute actions to stop the war in Artsakh and stressed international recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh as the most effective way.

Inarritu assured that he will continue to work consistently in the Spanish legislature and European Parliament to raise awareness about the war crimes that Azerbaijan, Turkey and international terrorists are committing against Artsakh and stated that he will make efforts to provide the support of the Land of the Basques to the people of Artsakh.
