A case of protection of the rights of six more Armenian military servicemen captured by Azerbaijan during the ongoing war it has launched against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) has been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). This was reported by human rights activist Artak Zeynalyan.

"The captives are Samvel Knazyan, Samvel Kastaktsyan, Hovsep Sahakyan, Vahe Abrahamyan, Gegham Elbakyan, and Norik Arakelyan.

Based on the videos disseminated by the Azerbaijani media, the mentioned persons have been identified, or the fact of captivity has been confirmed through calls or messages made—from their phones—to their family members.

Petitions have been submitted to the European Court on behalf of the family members of the Armenian captives, with a request for applying an urgent measure to protect the rights to life and to be free from inhuman treatment.

The European Court has requested from the government of Azerbaijan documented information on their whereabouts, conditions of detention, and medical service. The court has set a deadline of 13.11.2020 to provide the required information," Zeynalyan added in particular.
