Special measures were taken by the police without warning when the demonstrators approached the gates of the CEC building. Also, they argued with the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
An unprecedented number of police patrol cars and special services have been mobilized on the spot. The protesters still try to break into the CEC building, News Georgia reports.
They are protesting the results of the parliamentary elections on October 31.
The Georgian opposition does not recognize the legitimacy of these elections, and all eight opposition parties that have won parliamentary seats are renouncing the latter and demanding a new vote.
According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, the ruling Georgian Dream party received 48.23 percent of the votes, whereas the National Movement-Power in Unity opposition coalition has come in second—with 27.17 percent.
