Hero of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), army general Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan, who is integrally linked to the operation for the liberation of Shushi in 1992, recommends setting up a Civil Council to seek paths to get out of the current situation.

The army general called on doing everything possible to maintain the stability and statehood and not give in to emotions. According to him, there is a possibility to consolidate healthy forces in order to get out of this difficult situation. “I call on everyone to act above narrow political, corporate or other interests. It is necessary to set up a civil council that will comprise representatives of the intelligentsia, public and political figures whom the public trusts,” Ter-Tadevosyan said and expressed willingness to assume the responsibility to coordinate the council.

Citizens started gathering at the central square in Yerevan and in front of the National Assembly last night after they received a report on the signing of a joint statement by Pashinyan, Aliyev and Putin. People were chanting “Nikol, traitor”. Since he came to power, Pashinyan had been assuring the people that any document on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict wouldn’t be adopted without a discussion with the Armenian nation. However, in reality, the Prime Minister signed the key document without informing the public. What is particularly important is the fact that the publication of the statement was being postponed until Azerbaijan took control of Shushi, the symbol of Artsakh.
