Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on to assist the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, in their determination to create conditions for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] conflict, RIA Novosti reported.

"Indeed, it is necessary to find compromises to peacefully settle such complicated conflicts that are tied with a tight knot; and that requires the audacity of decision-makers," Putin said at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

"In this regard, of course, we must also assist the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Pashinyan, and the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Aliyev, in their determination to create conditions for a peaceful development of the situation in the region and to make a decision in favor of building long-term relations between the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples," the Russian President added.
