The issue of the deployment of Russian-Turkish peacekeepers in Karabakh was not discussed during the settlement talks, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, Interfax reported.

"No, there was no talk of a joint peacekeeping force; this topic has never been discussed. The joint zone of cooperation will be in the territory of Azerbaijan, it will not be Karabakh, and it’s about a monitoring center," Peskov said.

Thus, at the request of reporters, the Kremlin spokesman commented on Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s publication of the recording of his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict. During the conversation, Aliyev also spoke about a joint peacekeeping mission by Turkey and Russia.

It became known on Monday evening that Putin, Aliyev, and Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had issued a trilateral statement according to which a complete ceasefire and a cessation of hostilities is declared in and around Artsakh, the Armenian and Azerbaijani army units shall stand in their positions, and Russian peacekeepers shall be deployed along the Nagorno-Karabakh line of contact and the Lachin corridor connecting Artsakh with Armenia.
