Iran plans to issue over $2 billion in bonds to finance its power plant projects for generating more electricity, says Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou.
He said that the cabinet had already approved the issuance of more than 2.2 billion dollars in bonds, Press TV reports referring to IRNA news agency.
The Minister stressed Iran has an opportunity to become a regional exporter of electricity.
Iran’s electricity network has integrated into the power grids of seven neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, he website reports.
