Another convoy of the Russian Armed Forces’ 15th separate peacekeeping brigade units, which have arrived to take part in the peacekeeping operation in the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] conflict zone, have traveled about 100 kilometers from their concentration area in Goris, Armenia, to the Karabakh capital Stepanakert, RIA Novosti reported, citing the respective statement.

It is noted that these convoys include armored personnel carriers, vehicles and logistics equipment, too, which were transported from Russia to Erebuni Airport in Armenia’s capital Yerevan on board Russian military transport planes.

These units comprise contract servicemen who have undergone special training to carry out a peacekeeping mission. In particular, they have studied the norms of international humanitarian law during armed conflicts.

The peacekeepers are equipped with modern weapons, as well as military and special equipment.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday night signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
