The Russian Armed Forces will complete the setting up of checkpoints in Karabakh on Saturday, said Rustam Muradov, Commander of the Russian peacekeeping force in Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)], RIA Novosti reported.

"Today, the 15th Separate Motorized Rifle Peacekeeping Brigade of the Central Military District (…) is completing the setting up of all checkpoints along the line of contact," he said.

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu  had announced on Friday that eight checkpoints were already set up in the "South" zone, and that they planned to set up eight more in the "North" zone on Saturday.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday night signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
