The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has commented on the news that certain mass media outlets had previously disseminated according to which Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu has been recalled, RIA Novosti reported.
Earlier, speaking at a press conference organized by Rossia Segodnya, the diplomat had commented on the downing of the Russian Mi-24 military helicopter in the territory of Armenia by stating the following: “Anything can happen during a war.” Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev declared that Baku considers this statement inopportune.
“All the information regarding the downing of the helicopter must only be based on official sources,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reported, adding that the appointment or recall of a diplomatic representative is the under the jurisdiction of the head of state.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has roughly criticized the Azerbaijani diplomat’s statement and is waiting for Azerbaijan to launch an inquest and punish those guilty of the downing of the Russian helicopter.
