The United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) is considering its involvement in the restoration of cultural monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is what Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UNESCO, Ambassador Aleksandr Kuznetsov told TASS, responding to the question about the response of the UNESCO to the statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

“The administration of the Secretariat of the UNESCO is obviously aware of the statement by our minister. The issue is under consideration,” Kuznetsov said, yet failed to provide further details.

Earlier, in an interview with Russian and foreign mass media outlets, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov had mentioned the need for the involvement of the UNESCO in the restoration of cultural monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh.
