Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Masis Mayilyan has issued the following statement:
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh welcomes the adoption of the resolutions by the Parliament of the Netherlands in which the Parliament addresses the country’s government to be consistent with, at the level of the EU, imposition of sanctions against the President and Vice-President of Azerbaijan, the President of Turkey and others who are responsible for the war crimes and violent acts committed in Artsakh. The Parliament also calls on ending supply by member states of the European Union of arms to Turkey due to its complicity in the military aggression against Artsakh.
We highly appreciate this daring step of the lawmakers of the Netherlands which attests to loyalty to fundamental human rights and freedoms and justice, as well as their resolute position on impermissibility, prevention and condemnation of crimes against humanity. We hope that this step of the Parliament of the Netherlands will become a precedent for the adoption of similar decisions in other countries.
It is necessary to mention that during the war unleashed against the Republic of Artsakh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made several statements calling on the international community to impose sanctions against the leadership of Azerbaijan as a way to restrain the country and hold it liable.”
