Newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ara Ayvazyan today had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

Lavrov congratulated Ayvazyan on assuming office and, in this context, the parties expressed willingness to continue to enhance the allied ties of Russia and Armenia in all sectors, including regional security issues.

The interlocutors touched upon the practical application of the November 10 trilateral statement and the specifics of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

The foreign ministers also discussed the situation created in Artsakh and the region. In this context, they touched upon the efforts to settle the humanitarian situation in Artsakh and the meeting held with the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in Moscow.
