Several more Russian military transport aircrafts, carrying equipment and personnel of the 15th Peacekeeping Brigade, have landed in Armenia’s capital Yerevan to take part in the peacekeeping operation in the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] conflict zone, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The ministry continues to transport Russian peacekeepers to their mission area in the conflict zone, and 226 respective flights have been conducted since November 10.

The total Russian peacekeeping contingent in and around Nagorno-Karabakh shall consist of 1,960 servicemen with firearms, 90 armored personnel carriers, and 380 units of motor vehicles and special equipment

In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defense has begun the setting up of an interdepartmental humanitarian response center in the Artsakh capital Stepanakert.

On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
