The Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, on Friday had an online meeting US Ambassador Lynne Tracy.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman presented the Azerbaijani atrocities, torture, and inhuman treatment of the civilians and POWs of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

The rights of people forcibly displaced from Artsakh to Armenia due to Azerbaijani armed attacks were also discussed, paying special attention to children.

The US envoy lauded the role of the Human Rights Defender in the context of the recent war, as well as the latest events unrolling in Armenia.

The Ombudsman, in turn, thanked the ambassador for cooperation in important areas.

Also, parties expressed readiness to deepen their cooperation.

On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
