120 prominent French cultural figures express support to Armenia, Artsakh

Le Figaro Magazine has published the call of 120 prominent French cultural figures and intellectuals in defense of Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

"More than a century after the 1915 Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire's ringleaders, the Armenian people have once again fallen victim to two dictatorships, as both Baku and Ankara are inciting hatred toward Armenians—each of them to consolidate its absolute power with a new bloody plunder.

The fate of the Armenians was brutally changed in Nagorno-Karabakh, which they call Artsakh.

Deprived of human dignity, [President] Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Turkey and [President] Ilham Aliyev's Azerbaijan launched a fierce attack on the Armenians of Artsakh to pulverize their legitimate aspirations.

The Armenians did not want that war, the war was imposed on them, and they fought for their existence.

In the 21st century, such hatred towards man, such an outburst of hatred, causes deep indignation which can absolutely not find a place in the modern world.

That is why I support Armenia, I support Artsakh," the aforesaid call reads in particular.

On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities in and around Artsakh—and which Azerbaijan had launched on September 27. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
