Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Arayik Haroutyunyan on Monday held an extended working consultation with the heads of communities and administration officials of Askeran Region—at the regional capital.

The head of state reflected on the aftermath of the recent war that was unleashed against Artsakh by Azerbaijan on September 27, emphasizing that the normal course of life shall be restored in Artsakh as soon as possible. In this context, President Haroutyunyan stressed that the Ministry of Urban Development will take urgent measures to repair the apartments that were damaged by the shelling.

According to Haroutyunyan, the inventorying of free housing in the communities should be completed quickly, the necessary repairs should be done in a short period of time, it should be provided with household property, and, until the construction of the main apartments, temporary accommodation should be provided to those who have become homeless.

He instructed the head of the Askeran regional administration to have a representative at the Artsakh government’s urgent headquarters operating in Armenia, who will deal with the social problems of the region’s residents who were left homeless and found temporary shelter in Armenia.

The discussants conferred also on the resumption of schools and preschools as of the beginning of next year, the provision of social guarantees to the population to overcome the current dire situation, as well as the organizing of autumn sowing.
