YEREVAN. – As a result of the measures taken by the National Security Service (NSS), evidence was obtained of misuse by a former governor of Aragatsotn Province, his brother—an ex-MP from the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia—and a former head of the Kakavadzor community, as well as of large-scale embezzlement of state funds, with prior consent and through fraud, the NSS informed in a statement.
The statement also said that for these crimes, S.S. and N.S. were charged under the Criminal Code, and petitions were filed with court that they be remanded in custody.
Within the framework of the same criminal case, the former head of Kakavadzor was questioned on suspicion of aiding in the abuse of office and large-scale fraud, and confessed.
During the search of N.S.'s apartment, numerous certificates of registration of property rights were found and confiscated.
Measures are being taken to determine the full range of people involved in this criminal scheme, to individualize the actions of each of them, and to fully recover the damage caused to the state.
