Perhaps the most important of the statements made in Yerevan by the Iranian foreign minister was that the territorial integrity of Armenia was clearly defined as a “red line” for Iran. Iranian Studies specialist Vardan Voskanyan, who is responsible for public relations of the opposition Homeland party of Armenia, wrote this on Facebook.

"This was an open message to the dictator of Baku [i.e., Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev] and the [Turkish president Recep Tayyip] Erdogan regime that any encroachment on the Republic of Armenia will be considered by Iran a violation of its vital interests and will resort to the necessary actions arising from it.

(…) this statement evoked a dual feeling on a purely human level. First of all, it is pleasing that Armenia, in fact, has Iran's unconditional support in ensuring its own security against the enemies, whereas it is sad that it has reached the point of discussing the territorial integrity of our country," Voskanyan added.
