Flyers with the inscription "Eliminate the traitor" are being spread in public places; this phrase contains the characteristics of a call for violence, which can lead to aggression, physical violence, and other illegal actions. Ani Samsonyan, an MP of the opposition Bright Armenia faction in the National Assembly (NA) and deputy chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, wrote this on Facebook.
"Armenia is a civilized and lawful country where violence, terrorism, and dangerous manifestations of aggression cannot be a means and an end to resolving an issue, especially if they are directed against the legitimate authorities and high-ranking officials of the state. Thoughts about physical elimination have recently been voiced also by public and political figures, which aggravates the situation.
Anger, insult and hatred cannot justify such methods of struggle. (…).
I call on the initiators and distributors of the leaflet to stop the propaganda of violence. If you do not pursue such a goal, then reformulate your calls," Samsonyan added.
