Edmon Marukyan, chairman of the opposition Bright Armenia Party and head of its parliamentary faction, on Monday petitioned to Gegham Gevorgyan, Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC), in connection with the increase in the airline ticket prices to the Russian Federation (RF); Marukyan informed about this on Facebook.
"In particular, it is known that as of February 01, 2021, the borders of RF have been [re]opened for our citizens.
Meanwhile, we receive information and complaints from many citizens that the prices of airline tickets to various Russian cities have increased many times over; the mentioned refers not only to Russian, but also to Armenian air carriers.
Moreover, we are talking only about one-way ticket prices.
Accordingly, I asked the SCPEC chairman to study the reasons for the increase in ticket prices to Russia in the airline ticket market, as well as to use the tools reserved to the commission by law to reduce the prices of unreasonably expensive tickets and apply appropriate sanctions to the [respective] subjects," Marukyan added in particular.
