Mister deputies Hayrapetyan (deputy of the ruling My Step bloc Mkhitar Hayrapetyan-ed.) and Mister Hovhannisyan (deputy of the ruling My Step bloc Hovhannes Hovhannisyan-ed.), if you can’t force the incumbent authorities to radically increase expenditures for needs for science, then the authorities need to resign. This is what Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Artur Ishkhanyan said as he addressed Chair of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport of the National Assembly of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan and vice-chair of the framework parliamentary committee Hovhannes Hovhannisyan during today’s parliamentary hearings devoted to the topic of “Science as a Pillar for Security and Development”.

According to Ishkhanyan, the authorities that can’t make twice as much expenditures for science after the devastating 44-day war and learn lessons from the what happened must resign. Ishkhanyan added that he has participated in numerous hearings over the past years, but no action has been taken.

“All the governments of Armenia have treated scientists badly, but the current government treated scientists worse. Show everyone that you want to make a change instead of trying to make it seem like you do,” Ishkhanyan said.

Hayrapetyan, the organizer of the parliamentary hearings, didn’t like Ishkhanyan’s speech that even received a round of applause and called on the participants of the hearings to propose specific solutions, not make political statements. However, Hayrapetyan didn’t bring a specific example or make a specific proposal.
