Yerevan.today writes the following: “The news about the detention of Armenia’s monopolist businessman Davit Galstyan (a.k.a. Patron Davo), who deals with the sale of arms, is refuted. In reality, he was only apprehended and taken to the National Security Service (NSS) where he stayed for a few hours.

Yerevan.today found out that last Friday, the arms dealer known as Patron Davo was apprehended and taken to the NSS for questioning and released, but today, the NSS released news about his apprehension.

Patron Davo, who succeeded in becoming engaged in the procurement and sale of weapons through the high offices he has held in Armenia and has even made deals with Turkey, is in liberty in Yerevan a day before the sanction for his arrest is going to be considered. Basically, the Investigation Department of the NSS hasn’t pursued a hypothesis of pressure on the court.

The NSS has submitted a petition to the court to apply arrest as a pre-trial measure against Davit Galstyan and, as the special service told Yerevan.Today, the court will consider the pre-trial measure tomorrow. The NSS didn’t give any official comment on the news about Davit Galstyan being in liberty.

Earlier, the NSS had reported that former advisor to ex-defense minister Davit Tonoyan, businessman Davit Galstyan (a.k.a. Patron Davo), who deals with arms sale, was apprehended and taken to the NSS Investigation Department on suspicion of embezzling particularly large amounts of money. Patron Davit is charged with embezzlement of particularly large amounts of money under the case instituted and being examined by the NSS.

According to publications, Patron Davo, who is known to the masses for his scandalous transactions, supplies weapons to Armenia through his two offshore companies registered in Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands.
