The number of murders in the United States has skyrocketed over the past year, the New York Post reported, citing a study by the US national commission on COVID-19 and criminal justice.

According to experts, the number of murders in 2020 increased by 30% compared to 2019. The commission's report described the surge as an alarming rise unprecedented in modern US history.

Besides, the number of firearms attacks has also increased by 8%, while the number of aggravated assaults raised by 6%, the report said.
