The Russian peacekeeping forces are the guarantor of security in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is what leader of the opposition Bright Armenia Party and its homonymous parliamentary faction Edmon Marukyan told reporters today.

According to him, if it weren’t for the Russian peacekeepers, people in Yerevan might have continued to insist that Armenia is the guarantor of security in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Marukyan also stated that the peacekeeping mission will maintain peace until the status of Nagorno-Karabakh is determined, adding that if this issue is solved in five years, there will be other guarantees, and the peacekeeping forces will exit.

Marukyan also said it will take a long time to solve the issue related to the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
