Today the National Assembly of Armenia is holding its second special session, which is being held at the initiative of the government.

There are only two issues on the agenda, including the package of bills on making amendments and supplements to the Judicial Code and related laws and the package of bills on making amendments to the Law on Social Support and related laws.

Earlier, the Armenian opposition, namely the Homeland Salvation Movement had made an announcement calling on citizens to come to the building of the National Assembly and join the Movement’s protest. According to the members of the opposition, the issues on the parliament’s agenda are anti-state and unconstitutional bills.

It is also necessary to mention that the amendments will particularly lead to the emergence of new judges who will particularly deal with the selection of pre-trial measures. The opposition emphasizes that the authorities intend to start massive repressions through these bills.
