At the outset of this year, Russia detected signs characterizing the Pepino mosaic virus in tomatoes and pepper imported by 13 companies of the Armavir Province of Armenia and banned imports of those products.
Armenia’s Food Safety Inspectorate reports that it conducted monitoring to find out if the virus existed in the products and presented the results of the monitoring to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznador) of the Russian Federation. After joint discussions, the Service has lifted the temporary bans on imports of tomatoes and pepper starting from February 5, 2021.
