Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan today met with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri.
Greeting the guest, Avinyan viewed stability, peace and sustainable development as part of the common interests of Armenia and Iran, touched upon the situation created in the region in consequence of the aggression that Azerbaijan launched against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and paid special attention to the exchange of prisoners of war as a major and important issue for Armenia.
The parties also discussed cooperation between Iran and Armenia in trade and economy, and Ambassador Zohouri attached importance to the joint efforts for maximum use of the existing potential.
In the context of implementation of the agreements reached with Iran, Avinyan underscored implementation of the program for construction of the third Iran-Armenia 400kW electric communication line and the Noravan sub-station. He also mentioned that the “natural gas for electric energy” program is one of the main strategic directions for cooperation.
Issues related to the international Persian Gulf-Black Sea Transport Corridor, as well as the opportunities for cooperation in the field of information and telecommunication technologies within the scope of the Europe-Armenia-Iran-Qatar regional telecommunication project were also discussed during the meeting.
