Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan spoke about the war paradoxes.
He is surprised how vulnerable society could be for this kind of manipulation.
"This is one of the biggest problems, the biggest paradoxes of war. For 44 days, people were told to that we were winning, and on the 44th day - an act of surrender was signed. It was really a shock," he said.
"But of the entire package of measures that the executive branch of martial law provides for mobilizing the entire potential of the country and directing this potential towards victory or at least not defeat in this war, one potential was fully used: to silence the media and throw out this stream of disinformation and lies on population."
"To be honest, I'm surprised how vulnerable our society is to this kind of manipulation. It was a surprise to me because we knew what was going on. But martial law provided the tools of power to block truthful information. Besides, people wanted to believe in positive information, they wanted to believe that we were winning. A person is much more inclined to swallow this pill of lies, if it is desirable for him. This is the problem."
"And by the way, this is one of the reasons for the defeat in this war, because until the last day there was no general awareness that we are losing, that we are losing our homeland, we are losing a noticeable part of this homeland," he added.
