Israel is lifting COVID-19 restrictions six weeks after the introduction of the third nationwide quarantine, the Associated Press reported.

Some businesses have resumed their activities, and people are now allowed to move more than 1 km from their homes.

However, schools are still closed, and international flights remain banned.

Israel imposed a third quarantine in late December as the COVID-19 pandemic spiraled out of control. Over 686,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported there, with a death toll of 5,074.

The country launched a vaccination campaign as well.

Over 3.4 million Israelis have already received the first dose of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, and at least 2 million people have received the second doses.
