Supporters of Turkish football club Fenerbahce will no longer sing the anthem to the music of the Armenian song “Zartnir, lao” (Wake up, hero).
Fenerbahce fans found out that the music of the song is taken from the song “Zartnir, lao,” which contains anti-Turkish wordings, Sabah newspaper reports.
The author of the anthem Hakan Yavuz said that they did not know that it was an Armenian music. “Henceforth, we will not sing this song,” Yavuz noted.
Youth wing of web site broadcasted via YouTube a song, the melody of which coincides with Armenian song Zartnir, lao (Wake up, hero).
