YEREVAN. – The current authorities of the Republic of Armenia have shown a classic example of the overthrow of the constitutional order. Hayk Alumyan, a lawyer of second President Robert Kocharyan, stated about this in an interview.

"What they are accusing my client of, in fact, the current authorities themselves have shown a classic example of the overthrow of the constitutional order when the two branches of power—the executive and the legislative—call on the people to boycott the third power—the judicial. They are boycotting courts with the people, whereas the police are watching to ensure that public order is not disturbed; this will enter the textbooks as a classic example," Alumyan said.

Also, the attorney noted the attitude of European organizations towards such violations. "One of the complaints at the ECHR concerns [PM Nikol] Pashinyan's call [on the people] to put pressure on the courts and boycott the courts. Mr. Kocharyan said about that in the interview; I, too, will repeat. Imagine such a call were made during some [other] government. Imagine the reaction of international instances; but we do not see it. And we do not know what the complaint process will be like at the ECHR. However, we see a calm attitude towards such actions. If such a thing had happened under another government, starting with the [former] USSR, there would have been a debasing reaction from Europe," concluded Hayk Alumyan.
