Mihran Poghosyan, attorney of former Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Yuri Khachaturov, filed a motion with the court to change his client’s pre-trial measure.

The attorney filed the motion during today’s hearing over the case of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and other ex-official and recalled that his client had been released on bail in the past. “Pledge is applied to disallow the poor behavior of the accused so that the latter doesn’t hide or take other similar actions. There is no need for pledge. The age, profession, the level of danger and nature of the act incriminated to the accused need to be taken into consideration when a decision is rendered,” he said.

The defendants—Robert Kocharyan, former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, and former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov—are accused of overthrowing the constitutional order. This case is part of the criminal case on the tragic events that occurred in Yerevan on March 1, 2008, and it is considered in a separate proceeding.
