Armenia’s Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan today hosted Ambassador of the European Union to Armenia, Head of the EU Delegation Andrea Wiktorin and discussed issues related to partnership in the healthcare system.
Avanesyan expressed gratitude for the EU’s support, particularly the assistance provided for the fight against COVID-19, and Wiktorin attached importance to the joint programs and voiced hope that they will be ongoing. Wiktorin also asked about the coronavirus situation in the country.
“I am glad to state that the coronavirus situation in Armenia is already stable and under control, but Armenia is still alert and is working hard to obtain vaccines and launch vaccination.
Touching upon post-war issues that particularly concern the healthcare system, Wiktorin attached importance to the involvement of the Ministry of Health. The health minister clarified that the ministry shows active participation in the rehabilitation programs and added that this also concerns the recovery of the mental health of Armenians of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Armenia who experienced war. At the end of the meeting, Avanesyan touched upon the issues on organizing medical aid for those who have temporarily moved to Armenia from Artsakh.
