Advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia Gor Abrahamyan took to his Facebook page to report that Prosecutor Gevorg Sargsyan has rendered a decision to replace the arrest pre-trial measure selected for Vahan Badasyan with signature to not leave the country.

Abrahamyan added that in spite of the clarifications of the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the court examination of the motion to select arrest as a pre-trial measure, there is still an absurd opinion that Badasyan was arrested on the ground of not having a permanent place of residence, but the court of general jurisdiction has recorded not only substantiated suspicion, but also several grounds for arrest prescribed by law for selecting arrest as a pre-trial measure against Badasyan. Abrahamyan also said the court particularly stressed the high probability of Badasyan committing a new criminal act.

Earlier, member of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan had informed that deputies of the Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly and independent MPs Arman Babajanyan and Sofia Hovsepyan have submitted a petition to lift arrest as a pre-trial measure.

On January 28, during a conversation with reporters at Yerablur Military Pantheon, Vahan Badasyan said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan must resign and be eliminated, and if he doesn’t resign, he will be eliminated physically, with weapons, and that he will start organizing the process. Hours after this statement, Vahan Badasyan was detained.
