Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian today had a phone conversation with Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian, the Armenian MFA reported.

In continuation of the previous contacts, the foreign ministers held a comprehensive discussion on stability and security in the region and touched upon the steps being taken to address the humanitarian situation in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and the challenges facing the Armenians of Artsakh.

In the context of humanitarian issues that require urgent solutions, the Armenian foreign minister underscored the repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages and emphasized the inadmissibility of Azerbaijan creating obstacles. In this regard, Aivazian expressed gratitude to his French counterpart for always keeping the issue on the agenda.

The foreign ministers stressed the addressing of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process within the scope of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group and exchanged views on the upcoming timetable for actions of the Co-Chairs.

The foreign ministers highly appreciated the recent visit of the delegation of Secretary of State at the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affair Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne to Armenia by the assignment of President of France Emmanuel Macron to consider the prospects for cooperation in areas of mutual interest on the spot.
