There are 251 questions regarding the effectiveness of the fight against COVID-19 for the Government of Armenia. This is what Arkady Khachatryan, deputy of the opposition Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia and chairman of the parliamentary committee set up to study the effectiveness of the actions taken by the government to fight against the coronavirus, told reporters during today’s briefing, adding that the questions are related to various sectors.

“The questions are also addressed to the Audit Chamber, the State Supervision Service, the Central Bank, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Office of the Human Rights Defender. The questions concern various stages of the spread of COVID-19, starting from testing, isolation and self-isolation and control over isolation and ending with the level of effectiveness of the fight for prevention of the spread of the virus,” the MP said.

Khachatryan added that the members of the committee are particularly interested in why there were no autopsies and how it was decided that a person has died from the coronavirus or other disease. The committee also plans to study the issue of access to tests for average citizens. “We would also like to know if the equipment and drugs are procured on behalf of a person or on a competitive basis. The committee will hold a regular session on February 16 and will consider two issues, including the questionnaire and the principles for inviting state officials to the committee’s sessions,” Khachatryan said.
