Iran hopes to buy weapons from Russia to ensure security in the region, Ali-Asghar Khaji, senior assistant to Iran's foreign minister for special political affairs, told Sputnik.
According to him, they have military cooperation with Russia, and when the restrictions were lifted, Russia became one of the countries where they can buy weapons.
The diplomat noted that although Iran had no right to buy weapons due to the UN arms embargo, its neighbors bought weapons for billions of dollars, turning the region into an arms depot.
