Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan today participated in the workshop hosted by the Freedom of Information Center of Armenia and entitled “Freedom of Information in the System of Governance”.
In his welcoming speech, the Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the event and said such discussions are important in order for a correct assessment of the volume and substance of the current sector-specific issues.
“Modern technologies seem to have erased the boundaries of access to information. In this sense, it is extremely important to have maximum spread of reliable information, the bearers of which are often state bodies. Here I believe it is important for government agencies to properly perform their duties to be available for mass media outlets. What is also important is for circuits providing information to take responsibility and respond to the inquiries addressed to them. I would like to state that the Armenian government fully welcomes this workshop and other similar ideas,” he added.
The workshop is designed for employees of the information and public relations units of 57 public administration bodies and is being held through the Support to Armenia Initiative.
