A Bangladesh court has sentenced five Islamist militants to death for the murder of an American blogger criticizing religious extremism, AFP reported.
Avijit Roy, a US citizen of Bangladeshi descent, was hacked to death by attackers with a machete in February 2015 while returning home with his wife from a book fair. His wife and fellow blogger suffered head injuries.
The court also sentenced one defendant to life in prison for the assault.
