Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan today received UK Minister for European Neighborhood and the Americas Wendy Morton.

Touching upon the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, he emphasized that the speedy return of Armenian prisoners of war and captured persons is a priority issue for the Armenian side for implementation of the trilateral statement signed on November 9, 2020 and maintenance of peace in the region. Mirzoyan added that the negotiations over the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the scope of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group remain on the agenda for the Armenian side.

In her turn, Minister Morton attached importance to the establishment of the ceasefire and the unblocking of regional infrastructures.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the agenda of reforms in Armenia and the course of implementation and successes of the New Armenia, Modern Parliament Program being implemented in parliament with the financial support of the UK.

At the end of the meeting, Mirzoyan attached importance to the speedy return of Armenian prisoners of war under the “all for all” principle and voiced hope that the UK will make all possible efforts as a member state of the UN Security Council.
