Armenia’s Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan today held a remote discussion on several issues related to judicial-legal, anti-corruption and police reforms in Armenia with top officials of the European Union.

The minister extended thanks to the European Union for the EUR 9,000,000 grant, which has been provided to the Government of Armenia for assistance in the implementation of justice reforms and forms a part of the budgetary support in the amount of EUR 30,000,000.

Badasyan presented the activities carried out in the anti-corruption field and, among other achievements, set aside the package of laws on the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Committee and Anti-Corruption Courts adopted by the National Assembly in the first reading and touched upon the already adopted bill according to which the cases of pre-trial proceedings (arrest, search, etc.) and the motions for operational intelligence actions will be examined by judges who pass integrity checks.

The justice minister talked about police reforms and presented the activities being carried out for the establishment of the Patrol Service, as well as the regulations of the bill on the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the priorities for cooperation in the justice sector for the next seven years and preparation for the next session of dialogue in the justice sector.
