The European Commission announced the provision of humanitarian assistance worth € 3 million to civilians affected by the recent large-scale hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, including a significant number of displaced persons.

Through the efforts of the European Union, 6.9 million euros of humanitarian aid has been mobilized since September 2020, since the start of hostilities. After the cessation of hostilities, a severe humanitarian crisis continues in the region, exacerbated by the harsh winter and the COVID-19, the EU delegation to Armenia noted.

The EU is stepping up assistance to the population affected by the conflict in and around Nagorno-Karabakh. All this will help to deliver the essentials to those who are in dire need of them, said EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic.

The new aid will help EU humanitarian partner organizations to provide affected populations with food, winter supplies, as well as shelter, basic health care and psychological support.
