We are following with concern the development of the situation in Armenia. We consider it exclusively the internal affair of Armenia. Armenia is an important and close ally of Russia in the Caucasus. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters this, commenting on the current situation in Armenia, RIA Novosti reported.
As reported earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia has issued a statement demanding the resignation of PM Nikol Pashinyan and his government. Subsequently, Pashinyan stated that after this demand, he dismissed the Chief of the General Staff, Onik Gasparyan.
At the suggestion of the PM, President Armen Sarkissian had dismissed the First Deputy Chief of General Staff, of the Armed Forces Tiran Khachatryan, who, according to media reports, had mocked PM Pashinyan’s words about the alleged flaw of the Russian Iskander missile systems.
