The heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, acts as a de facto high-ranking British arms dealer and supports the authoritarian regimes of the Persian Gulf, the Declassified UK reported.

The portal has published materials on the relationship between Windsor Palace and the Arab royal family. It turns out that over the past decade, Charles alone has met 95 times with ruling families in the Middle East, while in total, members of the British royal family have met with representatives of the region's monarchies 217 times.

Charles' diplomatic trips to the region are made at the request of the Foreign Office. It is noted that he helped fortify controversial alliances with undemocratic regimes and promoted arms exports worth £ 14.5 billion.

It is claimed that the real purpose of these visits is hidden behind Buckingham Palace. The palace emphasizes its cultural visits, although there are frequent meetings with senior members of the military, intelligence, and internal security.

While the details of what was said during Charles's meetings with Arab royals are unknown, they were sometimes followed by statements from British arms manufacturers such as BAE Systems that they had struck multi-billion dollar arms deals.

The Prince of Wales' visits also coincided with high levels of repression against pro-democracy protesters in the region.

The most recent meeting between the House of Windsor and the Arab royal family took place in December when Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed visited Charles and Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London. The meeting took place despite growing criticism from UN experts regarding the conduct of UAE forces in the fighting in Yemen.

Oxfam warned earlier this week that the UK was extending the war in Yemen by selling weapons to Saudi Arabia.
