Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan today met with US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy and USAID Armenia Mission Director David Hoffman, as reported on the official website of the National Assembly.

Greeting the Ambassador, Mirzoyan presented the situation created after adoption of the trilateral statement on ceasefire by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia and emphasized that the return of prisoners of war and captives to Armenia is of primary importance for the Armenian side. Mirzoyan also highlighted that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can’t be considered resolved so long as the issue related to the status of Nagorno-Karabakh — hinged on the principle of self-determination of nations — remains unsolved.

In her turn, Ambassador Tracy stated that the US is making efforts to contribute to the return of Armenian prisoners of war.

USAID Armenia Mission Director David Hoffman presented the USAID’s programs in various sectors and touched upon the programs for the parliament’s capacity-building.

The interlocutors discussed issues on the Armenia-US agenda and underscored the importance of resolving the domestic political situation in Armenia.
