The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy has passed a resolution on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and presented it to the Committee’s chairman Piero Fassino, Agenzia Nova reports.

The resolution calls on the Italian government to achieve the release of all prisoners of war, encourage the sides to work constructively, present the maps of mined areas and support the initiatives of the OSCE, the UN and the European Union in relevant forums. The Italian government must also call on the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to actively participate in the negotiations between the sides for a long-term solution to the instability in the Caucasus. In addition, the resolution states that, taking into consideration the wonderful ties that Italy has with the two sides, Italy advances the efforts for confidence-building which create conditions for further reconciliation and resumption of negotiations.
