YEREVAN. – It is a fact that we [Armenia] have been in a state of systemic political and total crisis for a long time; this crisis must be resolved sooner or later. Mikayel Melkumyan, an MP of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), stated this at Friday’s briefings of the National Assembly, and referring to the matter of holding of snap parliamentary elections in the country.

"That is, holding early elections is on our agenda, too. The problem is in the timeframe and terms of holding these elections. We lose $5-7 million a day, the public administration system does not work; later, it will be very difficult to overcome this. If this continues for months, we will face the fact," Melkumyan added.

In response to the remark that PM Nikol Pashinyan's condition for holding snap parliamentary elections is not to run for PM, and when asked whether they would agree to renounce the agreements they had with ex-PM Vazgen Manukyan—the PM candidate of the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement, PAP MP Iveta Tonoyan noted that they had not held discussions on this matter. According to her, the political crisis in the country is becoming clearer every day. "In this case, can we afford that the National Assembly hold discussions for three days, waste resources, whereas the solution be nothing?," Tonoyan asked.
