The Armenian parliamentary committee leading a probe into the effectiveness of the measures taken by the government and Commandant’s Office to prevent the spread of the coronavirus is preparing to address the National Assembly with the request to extend the activities of the committee for another six months.

This is what chairman of the committee, deputy of the opposition Bright Armenia Party Arkady Khachatryan said during a discussion on the initiative held as part of the probe committee’s session today.

Co-author of the initiative, deputy of the ruling My Step bloc Heriknaz Tigranyan particularly stated that extension of the committee’s activities is conditioned by the fact that the epidemiological situation used to be rather complicated in the country in the past and, besides this, the hostilities resumed in Nagorno-Karabakh, which had a significant impact on the pace and quality of the committee’s activities. According to the MP, the lost time must be compensated, and for this the committee needs another six months to conduct the relevant studies.

After the discussions, the committee approved the initiative.
